I use a form of therapy called Transactional Analysis and I am a ‘trauma informed’ counsellor. I am a fully qualified with a Diploma in Counselling (level 6) and an accredited member of the National Counselling Society.

I undertook my first counselling training back in 1994 and have utilised those skills on a daily basis since. I am a firm believer in the human capacity for growth and change. My approach is warm, authentic and down to earth. I endeavour to be open and present and hold all people I work with in high regard.

I offer a safe, contained and confidential space in which people can access their deepest and most authentic selves. I am open to working with people irrespective of race, ethnicity, gender identity, sexual orientation, social class, religious beliefs or cultural background. I always work within my own competency, maintain high ethical standards and always hold my clients best interests at heart.

I adhere to the National Counselling Societies ‘code of ethics’ and use regular supervision to support me in my work.

My Counselling Methods

I practice a form of psychotherapeutic counselling called Transactional Analysis (TA).

TA can help us explore and understand our relationship with ourselves, others and the world around us. TA can helps us to explore how our early experiences may have influenced those relationships and subsequently our lives.

The core principles of TA are:

  • People are inherently ‘OK’

  • People can think for themselves

  • People can make decisions and thus determine their own destiny

Past to present

As well as working with Transactional Analysis I also draw on aspects of Carl Rogers ‘person centred’ counselling approach and also the work of Carl Jung. I have a wide range of influences and inspirations to draw from. Sometimes I may offer some therapeutic theory to support us in our work together.

I have 25 years experience of working with people with Autism and neurodivergence using music and the arts as a therapeutic framework. I am a strong believer in recognising our uniqueness, our differences as well as our common ground and shared humanity.

I have 8 years experience of mentoring and supporting young men involved in the criminal justice system with the charity A Band Of Brothers. I am a certified leader on our Rites Of Passage weekends and I am also a certified Conflict Resolution facilitator and Shadow Work facilitator for the organisation.

I have extensive training in many areas of counselling including Trauma, Suicide, Body Work, Grief Work, Death Anxiety, Mindfulness, Autism & Neurodiversity, Addiction & Substance Abuse and Advanced Counselling Skills.

I also facilitate my own CPD & training events for mentors, coaches, counsellors and psychotherapists alike.

I am currently in advanced training working towards a Diploma in Psychotherapy (level 7) accredited by UKCP (United Kingdom Council for Psychotherapy)
